2019 Request for Proposals Opens November 16

 
Planning for the 2019 Maryland Land Conservation Conference is underway! The annual conference is the largest gathering of its kind in the state for land trusts, conservancies, local and state government agencies, heritage organizations, and other members of the conservation community.

Maryland Environmental Trust invites you to submit a proposal for the 2019 Maryland Land Conservation Conference. Submissions will be accepted Friday, November 16, 2018 through Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Click here to submit your proposal.

NATURE BASED SOLUTIONS TO ACHIEVE COMMUNTY GOALS:  

How land Conservation is gaining Relevance by connecting with Peoples’ and Communities’ values

This path will focus on ways land trusts and conservation practitioners are connecting land conservation to broader goals, and, in the process attracting and inspiring public support for and engagement in land and water conservation.

Examples of topics may include

  • Nature and its benefits to people, community, and families
  • Connecting to the outdoors: recreation and economy
  • Productive soils and healthy water: how agriculture and forestry is contributing to our goals
  • Career pathways in conservation: how young people are driving our work and addressing our succession challenge

 

FRONTIERS IN CONSERVATION FINANCE AND CAPACITY BUILDING:

Innovative Tools and FUNDING Programs THAT ARE CHANGING THE WAY WE ACCOMPLISH OUR WORK

This path will highlight new tools and technology, partnerships and programs designed to further conservation partnerships, goals and priorities.

Examples of topics may include

  • Funding for incentivizing and conserving working farms and forests
  • Advancements in Chesapeake Bay and water quality solutions
  • Frontiers in carbon based solutions
  • Recreation and Tourism-based funding

 

BUILDING Land Trust Capacity THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS

How building robust partnership Are increasing capacity and connecting land trusts to new resources

This path will explore essential tools and resources to strengthen organizational capacity, protect sustainability and provide the right connections to technical assistance.

Examples of topics may include

  • Collaborative landscape conservation in action
  • Enhanced stewardship: partnerships with private landowners
  • Land Trusts collaboration across regions
  • Unlikely alliances: cross sector partnerships that advance mutual goals

 

LIGHTNING TALKS AND SPECIAL SESSIONS

The theme for this year’s Conference is Building Shared Pathways Forward: Working Across Landscapes. This is your chance to showcase how your recent projects, partnerships and accomplishments are accomplishing enduring land and water conservation at increased scale.
